NEXO Transmil and ACK3 promote the professional transition of military talent in Galicia during the Talento 45+ event

Vilagarcía de Arousa (Pontevedra), Spain — NEXO Transmil, an initiative promoted by ACK3 to facilitate the professional transition of military personnel, reservists and veterans into the civilian sector, took part on 2 June in the event “Talento 45+ | The power of reinventing yourself”, held at the Municipal Auditorium of Vilagarcía de Arousa.

The event was organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo and Vilagarcía de Arousa as part of the Talento 45+ Programme, an initiative aimed at promoting employability, training and professional development for people over 45.

The event brought together institutional representatives, companies, human resources professionals and senior talent experts to analyse how experience, leadership and adaptability remain strategic assets for organisations.

Military talent as a competitive advantage for companies

During the event, Jorge Quintana, president of NEXO Transmil, delivered the presentation “Your military experience has a future: resources for your transition into the civilian sector”, where he presented the work carried out by the organisation to facilitate the integration of military talent into the civilian labour market.

The session highlighted how skills developed over years of service — leadership, discipline, resilience, team management, planning capabilities and decision-making under pressure — are now highly sought after by companies and institutions.

“Military personnel beginning their professional transition are not starting from scratch. They enter the civilian sector with experience and capabilities that represent enormous value for organisations.”

ACK3 and NEXO Transmil are working to turn that potential into real opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and professional development.

NEXO Transmil: support beyond employability

During the presentation, the complementary role of NEXO Transmil in relation to SAPROMIL, the System for the Use of Professional Skills of Military Personnel under the Spanish Ministry of Defence, was also highlighted.

The initiative seeks to support military personnel throughout the entire professional transition process, providing a support network based on community, training, mentoring and connection with companies.

Area Contribution
Mentoring Support between active military personnel and veterans.
Training Professional development and employability.
Networking Connection with companies and institutions.
Community A support network throughout the entire transition process.

Fernando Romay and the recognition of senior talent

One of the highlights of the event was the participation of former international basketball player and Olympic medallist Fernando Romay, who shared a reflection on the importance of experience and the ability to reinvent oneself professionally.

“We are not older, we are experienced.”

His message connected with the spirit of the event and with the mission of NEXO Transmil: to show that the experience accumulated throughout a professional career can become a competitive advantage when facing new challenges.

The event was covered by several media outlets, including 65YMÁS and Diario de Arousa.
