PFST – Personal Field Security Training

Intensive hostile‑environment security training in Spain with international applicability

The ACK3 PFST is the intensive version of the HEAT program, designed to prepare professionals who will work or travel in high‑risk areas through a compact, highly practical format. In just 3 days, the program focuses on equipping participants with the essential competencies to identify threats, reduce their exposure to risk, and react effectively to critical situations such as ambushes, attempted kidnappings, or incidents in hostile environments.

Through realistic simulations and pressure‑based scenarios, participants develop the ability to make rapid decisions, act with sound judgment, and maintain control in contexts of high uncertainty from the very first moment in the field.

What is PFST?

The PFST (Personal Field Security Training) is an intensive training program developed by ACK3 to provide, in a compact format, the essential security competencies required to operate in risk environments. Equivalent to a 3‑day HEAT, the PFST focuses on self‑protection, risk management, safe mobility, and response to critical incidents. It is designed for professionals who need rapid and effective preparation before deployment, maintaining a strong practical component based on realistic simulations. Through immersive scenarios, participants develop the ability to identify threats, make decisions under pressure, and act with sound judgment in situations of high uncertainty. This is not a theoretical course, but an applied training program aimed at reducing vulnerability from the very first moment in the operational environment.

Duration

The ACK3 PFST program is structured as an intensive 3‑day format designed to provide, in a short period of time, the essential security competencies required to operate in high‑risk environments. It is similar to the ACK3 HEAT program, which is more extensive and typically lasts 5 days.

This format focuses on immediate response, reduction of risk exposure, and decision‑making under pressure from the very first moment in the field. Training takes place in Spain, in environments specifically designed for the simulation of real operational scenarios, combining controlled urban areas with natural terrain that enable an immersive experience under stress conditions.

The facilities are prepared to recreate high‑demand situations, including day and night scenarios, with stimuli such as noise, operational pressure, and decision‑making under uncertainty.

“The only easy day was yesterday.”

Methodology

The PFST training follows an intensive, experience‑based model:

80% practice | 20% theory

  • Realistic simulations of operational scenarios

  • Real‑time decision‑making exercises

  • Role‑play in crisis situations

  • Immersive scenarios with controlled stress

Participants operate as a deployed team in an unstable environment, facing situations that demand speed, coordination, and immediate decision‑making.

Contents

The program is designed to provide the essential competencies needed to recognize, avoid, and respond to threats in hostile environments. It is structured into four key modules:

1. Risk anticipation

  • Identification of immediate threats

  • Basic environmental assessment

  • Situational awareness

  • Self‑protection protocols

2. Operating in a hostile environment

  • Safe mobility in urban and rural environments

  • Checkpoint management

  • Basic navigation

  • Convoy movement

3. Incident response

  • Reaction to ambushes

  • Basic kidnapping management

  • Evacuation protocols

  • Emergency communications

4. Survival and resilience

  • Essential tactical first aid (basic TCCC)

  • Stress management in critical situations

  • Decision‑making under pressure

  • Teamwork in high‑risk scenarios

Participant profile

The PFST program is designed for professionals who require rapid, operational preparation before working or traveling in environments where risk is a real and inherent variable.

  • NGO and humanitarian aid personnel

  • Journalists and correspondents

  • Deployed corporate staff

  • Field technicians and engineers

  • Security teams

  • Any professional operating in high‑risk areas

It is especially relevant in contexts of:

  • High criminality

  • Unstable or conflict‑affected environments

  • Regions with low governance

  • Scenarios with elevated operational risk

Certification and continuity

At the end of the program, participants receive an official ACK3 Academy certificate that validates the competencies acquired in security and operation within hostile environments.

In addition, they become part of the ACK3 ecosystem, gaining access to:

  • Knowledge updates in response to emerging threats

  • Specialized content

  • Advanced training

  • Professional community (ACK3 Alumni)

After PFST, you operate with sound judgment: you anticipate risks, reduce exposure, and react effectively under pressure from the very first moment in the field.

Key benefits

  • Immediate reduction of vulnerability in high‑risk environments

  • Improved ability to react to direct threats

  • More effective decision‑making under pressure

  • Acquisition of practical skills in security and first aid

  • Increased confidence to operate in hostile environments

The ACK3 PFST prepares participants to face real‑world scenarios from day one, providing the essential competencies needed to act with safety, judgment, and control in contexts of high uncertainty.

Upcoming editions

The new ACK3 Academy editions are designed for professionals, individuals and organizations seeking to enhance their preparedness, resilience and ability to operate in complex, international or high-pressure environments. Through practical methodologies, simulations and scenario-based training, the HEAT and PFST programs help participants develop capabilities applicable to risk management, personal security, decision-making under pressure, incident management and contingency preparedness.
