Accountant — Madrid / Remote

We deliver swift, customised solutions to a global portfolio of private companies, individuals and governments. We are now opening applications for an Accountant to oversee our accounting operations and those of our international subsidiaries.
Your mission: own the numbers across a multi-entity group. You will run day-to-day accounting for several companies, close the books on time, keep compliance watertight under Spanish GAAP and IFRS, and give the CFO the financial picture decisions are made on.
What you will do
Day-to-day accounting
- Manage accounting operations for several entities: journal entries, AP/AR, expense control, supplier payments and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and optimise the Holded accounting system, ensuring accurate configuration, reporting and automation.
Closings and consolidation
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
- Prepare financial statements under Spanish GAAP (PGC) and assist with IFRS adjustments for group reporting.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and support group consolidation processes.
Tax and audit
- Manage tax compliance for Spanish entities: VAT (IVA), Corporate Income Tax (IS) and withholdings (IRPF).
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors on statutory audits and compliance matters.
Planning and control
- Support financial planning and budgeting, including annual budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare management reports and support the Finance Manager / CFO with financial analysis and insight.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations and HR to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
What we are looking for
Minimum requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC) and IFRS.
- Experience in monthly closings, multi-entity accounting and preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Solid understanding of Spanish taxes: VAT, Corporate Income Tax and withholdings.
- Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, formulas, data analysis.
- English at B2 level or above.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in external audit, at a Big Four or mid-tier firm.
- Experience with Holded or similar ERP and accounting tools.
- Exposure to international subsidiaries or multi-currency operations.
